Chris Usher (Chairman)

Chief Executive Officer of JIBS Events

Chris has over 20 years’ experience in international financial services, working both in the UK and offshore, for major financial institutions such as Barclays Wealth and Santander.

Formerly an International Investment Manager he advised both individuals and corporate entities on complex investment scenarios. He now specialises in delivering training in investment management, taxation and regulatory matters in international finance centres around the world.

Chris is a specialist chairman of a number of high-profile events, including conferences such as the Annual Compliance & Economic Crime Symposium and the International Taxation Conference. As an expert in the financial crime risks posed to international offshore financial centres, Chris was invited to speak at the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) conference on the topic of ‘Understanding the Criminal Vulnerabilities of Offshore Products and Services’.

William advises Jersey finance industry clients and international clients on financial services related disputes whether civil, criminal, regulatory or a combination. This includes advisory work and advocacy.

His specific expertise is in advising on money laundering (including corruption), regulatory and compliance investigations, disputes in the banking, trusts and funds sectors, sanctions, production orders including TIEA work, insider dealing, reporting duties, asset recovery, reciprocal enforcement, cyber-related risk and international mutual assistance generally. He places particular emphasis on working alongside clients and their in-house lawyers/compliance staff and other external advisers to implement risk management-based solutions to disputes in the regulated sector. He is experienced in politically sensitive and complex matters involving multiple legal issues and jurisdictions. He often advises on higher-risk business in the financial services regulated sector, whether that is in client take-on, transactional support or M&A support.

He is a member of the Royal Court Rules Committee advising and assisting the Royal Court in its rule making capacity.

Lloyd Meadows

Lloyd Meadows is a Senior Manager in the Africa Middle-East (AME) Regional Sanctions Team (RST) where he is responsible for the regional sanctions policies and procedures, and responding to sanctions queries from across the AME region. He joined AME RST in April 2016 following an appointment in Standard Chartered London as Senior Sanctions Advisor in the Group Sanctions Advisory Team, where he was responsible for the 2016 refresh of the Group Sanctions Policy and Procedures. Mr Meadows joined Standard Chartered in 2014. From 2009 to 2014, Mr. Meadows served in the State Programmes Team in the Counter Proliferation Department of the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office, where he worked on the implementation of sanctions regimes targeting Iran, Syria, Libya and North Korea
